All seafood is deep-frozen within 2 hours of landing on deck.
How it works
We fish with bottom trawls in the central eastern Atlantic FAO 34 area using by-catch Reduction Devices (BRD) such as Turtle Extruder Devices (TED) to make sure we avoid the catching of small size shrimps and to avoid unnecessary by-catch of other marine life.
After bringing the catch on deck, the crew thoroughly cleans it, and begins sorting immediately. During washing, the catch is inspected, graded by species and weight, then placed in 2 kg trays and frozen to a core temperature of -20°C. The vessel engineer ensures the fish hold stays at -22°C, with continuous monitoring from both ship and shore.
When a trawler discharges, samples are taken for organoleptic inspection, before the frozen product is sent under temperature-controlled conditions to our cold stores. We take multiple steps to ensure quality, by further testing in our in-house laboratory and by several other third party laboratories.
WHAT WE CATCH
Major catches in this area include prawns, shrimp, crab, cuttlefish and other species. The species we export are: Penaeus monodon (Black Tiger Prawn), Penaeus notialis (White Prawn), Penaeus kerathurus (Flower Tiger Prawn), Parapenaeopsis atlantica (Brown Shrimp), Portunus validus (Crab claws & clusters), and Cynoglossus browni (Sole).
OUR FLEET
Currently, our fleet consists of 34 operating trawlers, which are designed and built in the US to create a type of trawler that is easy to maintain, allows for fast product handling on deck and that can freeze and safely store frozen products on board. Over the years we have collaborated with the shipyard to improve on the design and performance, with fuel efficiency as another key factor. Additionally, all vessels are designed to provide hygienic living and working conditions allowing the crew to comfortably spend a 50 to 60 day voyage at sea. Vessel and equipment overhauls are done timely, as we understand that preventive maintenance is elementary to a successful and efficient operation.
Welcome to the Banarly jetty!
Truly a place for our boats to call home: our independent jetty. Here, the Banarly fleet is serviced by experienced engineers and technicians specialised in marine operations. Our workshop and facilities are optimised for our fleet, keeping our ships in running order and performing at maximum capacity at all times.
With the addition of a floating drydock Olokun F.D., we are able to provide our fleet with equipment overhauls, repair or construction, all performed in-house according to the highest international standards.
